this is just one [quick, non-fermented] way to make ginger beer. the ingredients for this recipe were inspired by the best ginger beer i’ve ever tasted – at ITAL CALABASH in oakland, california! yummmmmmm.

how to make ginger beer

boil water

i use about 2 hands of ginger. i like it hot

slice ginger thinly

ginger is so freakin cool

add ginger to boiling water

two fat cinnamon scrolls

allspice!

add about 10 shakes of allspice

big maple! for the love of god don't use jemima

i use about 1/4 cup of maple syrup

stir it up! lil darling

let it simmer

from start

to finish

strain the gingery liquid

limes

roll lime with the heel of your hand

lime halves

score lime to release more juice

juice lime with spoon or citrus juicer

stir to incorporate lime juice

strain a few times to remove grittiness

let flavors set for at least an hour or two

enjoy your ginger beer!
