in choose your own adventure [2011], a mystical experience gives way to a exploration of the mundane occurrences and choices that make up a life.

grind

grind [2011] illustrates the monotony of the daily commute: an urban passage; a ritual without closure.

the short films in this series highlight the power of mundane circumstance to trigger nostalgic recollection. they celebrate the small but evocative events that impact our psychic awareness on a level that evades the present reality. an elusive but familiar sensation is born of a phantom scent or melody on the air; a renegade memory loosens itself from the bedrock of our consciousness and floats to the top.

Summer Media Arts Documentary [Trailer]

As the coordinator of the Media Arts Program at The Brotherhood/Sister Sol, I work with groups of young people to expose them to concepts, skills and careers in Media. Over the summer, I facilitated daily workshops that helped the Harlem youth participants to explore media criticism [looking at television, movies, music and videos], manual photography, PhotoShop, stop motion animation, video editing, and much more. I created the Summer Media Arts Documentary using footage taken by myself and the media students over the summer to highlight the ideas, skills and accomplishments of the group, as well as illustrate the work I do with youth.

keep ya wig tight

for black women, our hair makes a political statement whether we give a damn or not. i made a short film from the footage i shot while accompanying my homegirl lori to the beauty supply store. she was on an interesting mission. keep ya wig tight [2011] engages the conflict between the invisible and shifting lines between identity, freedom and compromise.

they are among us

they are among us [2011] reflects magical whimsy; addresses the notion of what goes down when we're not looking?
